April 2016 news
So much has happened since my last news. We moved again, I got head hunted to take over a local music academy, I left ‘The David Feehan Band’, dislocated my shoulder which was very painful and scary… I met my favourite Spanish singer ‘Diego El Cigala’ and got to hang out with his crazy talented musicians at ‘Womad’… my favourite world music festival in New Zealand!
Summer has gone too quickly but what a summer we had this year! I am finally starting to feel at home in our new place, I am healing slowly but nicely from my fall and just finished the last touches on our beautiful home studio and can finally work on music again!!
We will also open our studio for singing lessons very soon, so if you are interested or know somebody who wants to have private lessons, please contact me through my website. I will teach any level and any genre from ages 9-99!
On the performance side, I am very excited to work on a new project with Wellington Quartet ‘Vuyiseka’
(which loosely translates ‘to bring joy’ in Xhosa one of the South African indigenous language). This time, I am fully immersing myself into the beautiful world of Brazilian Bossa Nova, Samba and other groovy and soulful music from Latin America and beyond.
I am very happy to announce that we will have our first live performance during the Wellington Jazz Festival on Thurs 9th June at ‘Public Bar’, (48 Courtenay Place, Wellington), show starts at 6pm and is only $10 at the door, so come in early.
If you are wondering what is happening to my release of my first single ‘Heart of an Angel’, the making of the video is taking longer than I expected but in the meantime, we have started recording another original song and I am very excited about this one so watch this space and put June 9th into your calendars for ‘VUYISEKA feat. COCO FAVRE’ at Public Bar and come down to the Wellington Jazz Festival to support our wonderful live music!
