Get yourself to Saturday’s jazz-flavoured Wellington Night Market for fine food and family-friendly fun.

Cuba Street’s lower quarter will be heated up with live music on-stage including Coco Favre & The Moonlight Magic, the Wellington City Shake 'Em on Downers, Le Pompier Rouge and staff and students from the NZ School of Music.

Coco is joining forces with fabulous jazz singers David and Dawn and The Moonlight Magic. Olivia Campion (drums), Dayle Jellyman (piano), Umar Zakaria (double bass) and Andre Paris (saxophone).

Two sets of delightful jazz, standards, originals and more.

Coco Favre

Swiss born Coco Favre is a multilingual, multi-genre singer who has toured Europe,
Mexico and North Africa as both a singer and dancer. She has worked as a session
singer in Switzerland and NZ and performed with many bands all over the world.
Coco has recently released her debut album (Introducing…Coco Favre) and will be
singing some of her sultry Jazz, French and soulful Latin from the album, along with some new songs. Coco is currently working on her EP with producer Tony Strong.


David Feehan

Wellington born David Feehan is simply one of NZs premier vocalists, with three
albums to his credit and another about to be released, and involvement in over 20
more. David has sung all over the world and appeared at venues as exclusive as
Ronnie Scotts (London) and Montreux Jazz Festival (Switzerland). He is versatile and sings in most genres but was brought up appreciating the Jazz vocal standards.
David is currently teaching privately as well as performing.


Dawn Elder

Dawn has been a longstanding student of David Feehan and specialises in adapting
Jazz standards. Based in Wellington, she has also studied, like Coco, and David, at
the prestigious Tuscany Vocal Workshop in Italy. She was also a founding member
of the A Capella group 10DD led by Julie Lamb. Dawn released her first CD
(Alternative Medicine) in December 2013. Dawn will include some songs from the
album in her set.


Olivia Campion (Drums)

Olivia Campion grew up in Hawkes Bay where she was immersed in music from a young age, learning the piano, flute and drums. Recently she has graduated from NZSM with a Bachelor of Music (Hons) with First Class. Alongside performing and teaching in Wellington City, Olivia enjoys performing around the country for various events including the Martinborough Jazz Festival.

Dayle Jellyman (Piano)

Dayle Jellyman can be heard around Wellington playing in a range of groups including ‘The Roseneath Centennial Ragtime Band’, ‘Three Rays’, ‘Battleska Galactica’, ‘Niko Ne Zna’, and ‘Them Freaky Synths’. If the moon is just right, you may even find him turning up with an upright piano in the back of his wagon.

Umar Zakaria (Double Bass)

Umar Zakaria has performed in the US, the Netherlands and New Zealand. A student of legendary bassists Lynn Seaton and Cecil McBee, he was recently awarded 2nd place at the BASS 2014 International Jazz Bass Competition. His compositions and arrangements have been performed by ‘The NZ Symphony Orchestra’, ‘The Royal NZ Ballet’ and ‘The School of Music Big Band’.

Andre Paris (Saxophone)

Andre graduated from Massey University in 2002 with a Bachelor of Music (Jazz Performance). He has performed around the country with the NZSO as part of their Gershwin concert series, The Tauranga and Nelson Jazz Festivals and toured with ‘The Wellington Jazz Orchestra’. Andre is also a section leader in ‘The Royal New Zealand Air Force Band’, the country’s largest professional concert band.
